November 2nd, 2010 DOODLE-A-DAY PROJECT

In order to keep my creativity intact, I have decided to start a one-a-day doodle project. I will do one “doodle” every (week)day and post it here. They will all be on 4×4 inch squares, and mostly drawn using pens, markers, and colored pencils. I might get into other mediums as the project progresses. I measure only to the center of the square and the rest is freehand. I am hoping that these little drawings improve over time and if nothing else, they will serve as my daily creative “meditation”. Below are a couple of my favorites from the first 3 weeks:

August 1st, 2010 design genes

Apparently design runs through the genes… The linocut print on the left my mom did in college, and the linocut print on the right I did in high school, without ever seeing my mom’s print before. They are the same medium, and almost exactly the same size and shape.

July 20th, 2010 vintage find

I don’t know why, but I was totally drawn to this little “Pocket Guide” at a vintage store in Columbus. It reminds me a little bit of my recent favorite,  Charley Harper

The type is pretty groovy too. Soooo ’70s!

July 3rd, 2010 Begin anywhere

I have been in a creative rut lately and I’m spending my Saturday morning trying to get inspired. When I’m feeling like this, I go to Bruce Mau’s “Incomplete Manifesto for Growth” to get motivated. Today statement #9 is really resonating.

May 25th, 2010 “My wheel of worry”

A really beautiful graphic from the New York Times Magazine/ Andrew Kuo.

April 21st, 2010 New Site

The new site is up! Thanks to the help of  mhettler design. It’s been a busy few weeks, so I’m slowly adding projects. Check back soon.
